Dubai’s coastline will expand by 400% by 2040

Hold onto your beach hats because Dubai is about to take its public beaches to a whole new level!

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has approved the ‘Dubai Master Plan for Public Beaches.’

This ambitious plan is part of the larger Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan and aims to increase the total length of public beaches in Dubai by a 400%.

With new beaches and advanced facilities, this expansion is set to revolutionize the beach experience in the emirate.

The current 21 kilometers of coastline will be extended to an impressive 105 kilometers by 2040.

A 54 kilometers of beaches around Palm Jebel Ali, Palm Jumeirah, and Al Mamzar will be developed, along with a brand-new beach at Jebel Ali.

Over the next two years, services on public beaches will increase by an impressive 300%. Visitors can look forward to enhanced facilities, including cycle paths, walkways, water sports activities, shops, cafes, restaurants, and dedicated family spaces.

Dubai’s beach expansion is not just about creating more recreational spaces; it also emphasizes the preservation of the local ecosystem.

The development plan includes the planting of mangrove trees to protect against erosion and preserve marine habitats.

Furthermore, wildlife sanctuaries and turtle enclosures will provide an opportunity for the public to learn about and support the UAE’s efforts to conserve and rehabilitate turtle species.

This expansion will not only accommodate the growing population but also cater to the increasing number of tourists flocking to Dubai.

By offering a unique beach experience, Dubai aims to consolidate its status as one of the world’s top three cities for tourism.
